The aim of the British Society for Gene Therapy is to accelerate scientific
progress and promote ethical and efficient transfer of gene- and cell-based
technologies from the laboratory into the clinic.
Gene therapy is an area where co-operation between ALL the interested parties -
general public, patients, scientists, government and the media - is vital for
the optimal development of these technologies and treatments, and BSGT is
working towards becoming this pro-active interface.

for over 300 school pupils in Edinburgh in the run-up to BSGT2008. Read more about
the outreach project and view some of the artwork here

The BSGT Visiting Fellow Travel Award initiative
has been established. The purpose of this travel award is to enable young
members of BSGT to travel and work in a foreign laboratory with the aim of
establishing new international collaborations.
The first call for applications was issued in June 2007 and we're pleased to
announce that Dr Steven Howe (Institute of Child Health) and Dr Fiona Wilkinson
(University of Manchester) were chosen by the judging panel to receive the
first BSGT Travel Award. Read the report of Fiona's
visit here.
The June 08 call for applications is now closed.
